1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that websites save on your device to make them work, remember your preferences or collect statistical information. Similar technologies — such as the browser's localStorage — perform comparable functions and, where relevant, are treated here in the same way.

Cookies can be "first-party" (set directly by Lernis) or "third-party" (set by external providers, such as Google). By duration, they are session cookies (deleted when you close the browser) or persistent cookies (which remain until they expire or are deleted).

2. The categories we use

We use cookies split into three categories. Only necessary technical cookies are always active, as they are essential to the site's operation and exempt from consent under art. 122 of the Italian Privacy Code. Analytics and marketing cookies are installed only after your consent.

• Necessary — essential to sign you in, keep your session and remember your choices. Always active
• Analytics — help us understand, in aggregate and anonymous form, how the site is used. Only with consent
• Marketing and advertising — used by advertising partners to show you personalised ads and measure their effectiveness. Only with consent

3. Necessary cookies and technologies

These are always active because the site cannot work properly without them. They do not require your consent.

• lernis-consent — first party (localStorage) — stores your cookie choices so we don't ask again on every visit — persistent, until you clear it
• Authentication session cookies (Supabase) — first party / processor — keep you securely signed in to your account — session duration
• Guest-mode local data — first party (localStorage) — stores tasks and preferences on your device when you use the timer without an account — persistent, until you clear it

4. Analytics cookies (with consent)

Activated only if you give consent, they let us measure site usage in aggregate form and improve it. You can refuse them or withdraw consent at any time with no impact on your use of the Service.

• Google Analytics (_ga) — third party (Google) — distinguishes users for aggregate measurement — up to 24 months
• Google Analytics (_ga_*) — third party (Google) — persists the analytics session state — up to 24 months

5. Marketing and advertising cookies (with consent)

Lernis is free and supported by advertising. Without consent we show you only contextual advertising, not based on profiling. If you give consent, our advertising partners may set cookies to show you personalised ads and measure their performance.

• Google and advertising partners (e.g. IDE, DSID, ad-network cookies) — third party — personalised advertising and campaign measurement — per the partner's policies, typically up to 13 months

Some cookies are managed by third-party providers acting as independent controllers for their own purposes. We invite you to review their respective notices:

7. How to manage consent

On your first visit we show a banner where you can accept all, reject all or customise the categories. Closing the banner without a choice counts as refusal (necessary cookies only).

You can change your mind at any time via the "Cookie preferences" link at the bottom of every page, which reopens the choice panel. Alternatively, you can manage or delete cookies from your browser settings; disabling necessary cookies, however, may impair the site's operation.
