Open-source licenses

Lernis stands on the shoulders of free software and fonts. This page credits the projects that make the app possible and keeps the license notices their authors require.

Fonts

Lernis's typography uses three families released under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which allows free use — including commercial — as long as attribution is preserved.

  • Manrope — © The Manrope Project Authors. SIL Open Font License 1.1.
  • EB Garamond — © Georg Duffner and Octavio Pardo. SIL Open Font License 1.1.
  • Caveat — © The Caveat Project Authors (Impallari Type). SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Frameworks and libraries

The website and app are built with these open-source projects, released under the MIT license unless noted otherwise.

  • React and React DOM — © Meta Platforms, Inc. and affiliates. MIT License.
  • Next.js — © Vercel, Inc. MIT License.
  • Tailwind CSS — © Tailwind Labs, Inc. MIT License.
  • qrcode.react — © Paul O'Shannessy. ISC License.
  • TypeScript — © Microsoft Corporation. Apache 2.0 License.

SIL Open Font License

The full text of the SIL Open Font License 1.1 is available at openfontlicense.org. In short: the fonts may be used, bundled and redistributed freely, but not sold on their own, and every copy must keep this license notice.

Thank you

To everyone who maintains these projects, often in their spare time and unpaid: Lernis exists because of you too.
